General Announcements:

DND is hosting a STEM event for girls/young women interested in those careers at Willow Park on Oct 12.  The event will consist of speaker panels, guest speakers and booths related to those careers/functions in the military.  The event will take place from 10-2pm and transportation will be arranged.  Please see Ms. Stevens if you are interested.

NSCAD is hosting a on Saturday, October 15th -  all students who are interested in post-secondary art studies to bring in their portfolio for a one-on-one appointment with one of our faculty to get a personal review of their work. This is a great opportunity to get tips and tricks on how to curate the best portfolio for applying to art school, and get a sense of how studying at NSCAD will help strengthen their skills. Peer Health meeting this Monday at lunch in the Youth Health Centre. Join us if you’re interested in health and wellness. A fun and interactive group that focuses on many issues such as mental health week, awareness and advocacy such as missing and murder Indigenous First Nation Women, Food Drive to support local food banks etc.

GSA Gender Sexuality Alliance meeting at lunch on Sept 27th. - an advocacy group focused on the rights of the LGBTQ+ community and many other human rights.

Athletic Announcements:

The girls soccer team played a great game yesterday, beating Sacred Heart with a score of 7-3. Both Natalie Baker and Peyton Sampson scored hat tricks and Abby Delorey scored off a beauty pass from Brianna Desmond. Makayla Wilson and Nina Thurber anchored the team defensively and Sierra Hendsbee made some key saves. Great way to start the season, way to go girls!
